“My instincts are always to insinuate: You can imagine much worse than I can show you. I just need to ignite your imagination a bit.” -M. Night Shyamalan
As you know, if you’ve been following my writing journey, I’m not a horror writer. My writing doesn’t hold a candle to Stephen King. Still, I enjoy a good story. I can’t pass up an opportunity to challenge my storytelling skills. After all, we only know what we can do when we try. Right?
I came across this M. Night Shyamalan quote the other day and fell in love with it. It speaks to how I write, what I will and won’t do in my stories.
A Nice Island is a creepy story with a rich setting. If you allow yourself, I promise when you read this story, you’ll feel the island’s sand under your feet, hear the saw palmetto rustle in the wind, feel the Spanish moss tickle your nose, and smell the stench of fear.
But some things must be left unwritten because that’s what good storytelling does, especially in the horror genre. I lead you to the precipice of your imagination.
Where will you leap to?
