I cherish you. I do. I appreciate each and every one of you more than you realize. I’m a reader too. When I’m done with a book, it’s true I move on to the next book, the next author. But as a writer, I never move on from you. I think about all of you all the time. How could I not?
Every time you recommend one of my books, like a social media post, or ask me when a new book is coming out, you’re supporting me and my need to live a creative life. Your encouragement pushes me write better and create stories that make you want to keep turning the pages. You, my dear reader, keep me on my toes and I love it.
Can I be real with you for a moment? I mean, we can be like that with each other, right?
This writing and publishing gig, it’s a hard business. There are exhilarating highs, but I’m not going to lie to you and tell you it’s just cherries all the time. I’m not driving around town in my Maserati and eating gourmet veggie burgers at the Kardashians.
Nope. I’m in the trenches, writing one thought at a time and always trying to move closer to you. Moving closer to write stories that entertain, make you think, and, sometimes, laugh out loud.
In order to achieve these goals, I must be authentic with you and myself. When you bring my stories into your bed late at night or to your kitchen table over a cup of coffee, you expect me to real. So, dear reader, I want you to know the following:
The posts I write on social media are real. Some are scheduled posts, especially on Facebook ad Twitter because I’m forgetful. If I don’t plan ahead, you’re likely to think I’ve disappeared or been murdered, based on the type of fiction I write. 🙂
My comments on social media or on this blog are always 100% real. I don’t have an assistant, real or bot, that responds for me. Unless you see a spelling or grammar error. In that case, let’s go ahead and blame it on a bot. Works for me!
Sometimes, like you, I embrace the beauty face tools on my photo apps. Why? Well, aging sucks and beauty face lets me walk around in real life unnoticed. Also, did I mention aging skin sucks? If there’s one piece of wisdom I can impart on you, let it be this. Treat your skin well. That’s all.
This next one is for all my reader/writers. The ones who read my writing tips or get emails about my writing courses. Here’s the thing. Everything I write, or piece of advice I give is the real deal. When you purchase a course, I’ll never try to trick you into believing that my course seal the deal for success. Nope. Sorry. That’s something only you can ensure. Hard work, confidence, and follow-through get you to the other side of the success rainbow. I’m just your happy guide, helping you learn from my mistakes and watching you achieve mind-blowing success on your terms. I just want to help you tell your stories.
I’m looking forward to the rest of this year and beyond. There’s so much I want to share with you, and I want you to know that I value your readership. Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with me.
XOXO,
Piper
