Did you journal when you were a child? I was five when my mom gave me my first journal. It was a tiny journal with a kitten on the cover, yellow college-ruled pages, and a lock and key so my thoughts and feelings were safely guarded. I still have that journal and countless more that I collected over the years, all filled with dreams, questions, drawings, and stories.
With so much happening in the world around us, journaling is such an enormous tool we have at our disposal to help us sort out our feelings and reconnect to ourselves. What’s so wonderful about journaling is you don’t need a cool cat diary or anything special to get started. You can write your thoughts on a post-it, a notepad, or even using the notes app on your phone. Journaling is accessible to everyone at any time!
Last week, I wrote an article on Medium about the benefits of journaling for children. Even though it was an article about children’s journaling, adults can reap the same benefits. You can find that article here.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about journaling? Do you journal? How often do you journal? How has journaling benefited your life?
